The idea of the child's toy coils reminded me of the Guggenheim museum by Frank Lloyd Wright, but more on a vertical axis.
Its an art museum that has been layed out to control the movement of the public and how they view the art on display. The floor plan is of one big coil where the public enter a lift upon entry. Here they are taken to the top, where they walk the distance round/ down the coil, whilst viewing the art work displayed on the walls- its quite ingenious!! This means that they don't miss any artwork, have the chance to interact with others, and also enjoy the view. This incorporates the idea of motion within the heart of the building. And is easily accessible to disabled too.
Maybe you could incorporate the idea of a coil(s) within your sculptor, as the coil itself implies motion.....
